This weekend just gone saw the team compete at the SWCX, NDCXL, Western League and Yorkshire points ‘cross leagues…along with Marc racing in the New Forest on the MTB, Becky Road Racing on Saturday and Hillclimbing on Sunday!
Saturday saw 4 of our ladies race in the NDCXL at Hilton Fields. Di, Phoebe, Nat and Tiff (Tracey’s daughter – a recent recruit to the pit/cheering/racing team)! A great performance by these four and Di hit the podium once again, this time with a 2nd and Nat not far behind in 3rd! So cool to have such a great bunch, representing in what is a very popular league!
Becky headed to the Abingdon RT Criterium, hoping to gain the one point she needed to gain her 2nd Cat license, but a puncture 35mins in put pay to that…so, onto the next one! Sunday brought a better outcome, in the form of the Sudbury CC Hillclimb on Watson’s Hill in Semer. Becky recorded the 3rd best time of 1.00.8, with 2nd coming in at 1.00.7 and the winner only JUST ahead with 59.6. Super close at the top and we’re pretty sure that first win isn’t far away – this being her second Hillclimb and all!

Tomo headed to Yorkshire Points Series at Temple Newsam and had a storming ride to win the Vet40 race and with that 7th overall! He even managed to make the podium, which is a rarity for this chap!

Blighty headed to the SWCX again, this time at Newnham Park. Even with some tough competition and our man not feeling on top form, with heavy legs from the start, Nick got his head down and kept near the pointy end of the race and came home 4th!

Up in the Western League, Henry, Mike, Sam, Sally and Scotty raced at Pitville Park on a rather damp circuit. Sally once again showed her class, racing in amongst some of the best riders in the country, notably, Hattie Harden. Sally had a strong race and brought home the win in her category and a solid overall placing too! A decent start by team Orange in the Senior/Junior race with Sam leading from Scotty and Henry and Mike close behind. An early fall from Scotty unintentionally held up some of the front runners, giving our boy a nice gap (not that he needed it)…which he built on and never looked back, winning comfortably! Scotty regrouped at came in 3rd and Henry wining the Junior race too…a decent day out for the lads and lasses in Orange.
Its been a mint few weeks in and around Team Orange…more of the same next week please…
