Divisional Champs 2019

Early December saw some of the team ride in the annual Divisional Championships that are held in each area of the country. We had riders competing in the South West, East Midlands and South of England Championships.

Nick took to start line down in the South West Championships in Taunton, on a very muddy course. Seemed to be ‘power rider’ day and it was set to be a hard day at the office! Up against some tough competition, Blighty got in amongst right from the start and narrowly missed out on a podium place and came away with 4th place overall!

Further up the country, we had Alan, Sally, Nat J, Sam and Henry racing at Foxhills Motocross circuit on a newly devised course set out by Andy Smith Events. After some heavy rain leading upto the event and then more on the day of the race, it was set to be a mud fest! Sally and Nat were in the thick of it but Nat had it all to do after a first corner crash that left her dead last and lots of work to do! Sally was up front right from the start and never looked back, winning the V60 South Of England Championships, amazing stuff! Nat battled away behind after her less than ideal start and wondered what might have been, if that early crash hadn’t put her to the back of the race! Alan was back racing after being ill and had his usual speedy start in the V50 race, but the very recent cold was telling pretty soon and he faded a little, but still pleased to be back racing!

In the Senior/Junior Men’s race we only had two riders on the start line, with Scotty out ill, it was down to the two youngest Magspeeders, in the form of Sam and Henry! Sam having a rough week, trying to get over his illness that caught up with him in Belgium managed to have a cracking ride in his first Senior Championships. Up against some top riders Smithy was towards the head of the race and only a few mistakes let Sam Allen get the gap he needed to get away, but Sam still brought home 2nd position, cracking ride! Henry was back between the tape too, after a few weeks off and he was in with some strong young riders but he had a great race and came home just off the podium in 4th!

Further up country, Tracey, Caroline and Neil all took part in the East Midlands Championships at Prestwold Airfield in Leicestershire. Packed grids in all of the races meant for some tough racing and strong rides by all, meant for some decent results and lots of fun in the mud! Tracey bringing home the win in the V50 Women’s race and Caroline 11th in the V40 with Neil in the ever strong category of V40 Male coming home in 15th.

A decent outing for the team…great work Orange!
